Cowbridge School New Secondary School Campaign
Cowbridge came ( briefly ) to a halt last Monday ( June 11th 2007 ) as angry parents marched the street to highlight their campaign for a new secondary school.
The good-natured march was followed by the “State of the Area” debate - when members of the present Vale Council cabinet were left in no doubt about the strength of the feeling on the subject.
Although the Vale Council cabinet has approved an investment strategy which puts Cowbridge top of the list for a new school, parents are still concerned that no timescale, or firm plans, have yet been announced.

Cowbridge Comprehensive School
There are about 1220 students present, with about 270 studying for Advanced Levels. The great majority of our students go on to university, some after a year out. We usually send about four to Oxbridge, annually.
Cowbridge School enjoys a good record of sporting achievements, with a display cabinet full of trophies. We have successful hockey, badminton, cricket, netball, soccer and cross country teams, with Welsh internationals in many sports.
The school has a warm spirit, with cheerful pupils and happy staff. Enjoying recent improvements in facilities, the school is continuing the new millennium in the wake of a favourable OFSTED report.

South Glamorgan Police Roadshow Results - Vale of Glamorgan
The second of a series of roadshows to be held across South Wales was held in Tesco, Barry, on Thursday October 4th 2007.
Again, members of the public were given £130 of token money to spend on their policing priorities. The event saw 104 people take part. Once again, the Authority would like to thank all those who spared a couple of minutes to give their views.
Anti social behaviour and visibility of police officers were the top priorities, with 20%, with drug related crime following with 17%.

Cowbridge and the Vale Website
Welcome to the Cowbridge and Vale website. Cowbridge is situated in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan.
On 13 March 1254, Cowbridge received its first borough charter from Richard de Clare, the Lord of Glamorgan, De Clare was one of the most powerful barons of the day, having huge estates stretching across South Wales and southern and eastern England.
From 1243 he was actively extending his authority in Glamorgan; in 1245 he seized the manors of Llanblethian and Talyfan from Richard Siward, and the lordships of Miskin and Glynrhondda from Hywel ap Maredudd. In Llanblethian he founded the town of Cowbridge and in Miskin he founded the castle and town of Llantrisant.
