Those who have never visited this part of Wales, situated on the coast between the Gower and Cardiff, will enjoy walking through fertile, rolling lowland countryside adjoining the spectacular Heritage Coast with towering cliffs and remote beaches.  The Vale as its known locally is a maze of footpaths, country lanes, little villages, fine dining and country inns.

After the parade there will be a fun fair in the town, the shops will open until 4/4.30 pm, there will be live music and entertainment on the main stage outside the town hall, father Christmas will be in the town hall from 2 pm and the reindeer will be at the back of the town all for all to see.

At 5pm when it gets dark, Lucy Owen, HTV Wales will officially turn on the town hall lights and there will be Fireworks. Get your woolly hats and gloves on and come along!

Cowbridge Fashion Week 2009 was a huge success, with a packed calendar of events from Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th October. The week began in true style with a Fashion Week Parade down the High Street on the Thursday night. Over 25 local businesses took part in the parade, forming the longest catwalk in the UK. Stilt walkers and fire eaters led the way, and the crowd was treated to a show of models, demonstrating the amazing range of fashion collections available throughout Cowbridge’s many boutiques.

“The Fashion Week Parade exceeded all our expectations. We set out to create a carnival atmosphere. We wanted this to be a celebration of what Cowbridge has to offer, as well as a thank you to our customers for their custom over the years. The night was a great success, ” says Esther of Jon Ian.

After the Parade, customers were treated to a Champagne Trail throughout the town. Each shop that participated had red carpet outside their door, and offered customers a glass of bubbly. There was a fabulous atmosphere in the town, helped by the fact that many of the businesses had put on entertainment for the night – a Bollywood night and a Mardi Gras party were just two of the fantastic events set on by local boutiques. “There was a wonderful party atmosphere in the town, which is exactly what we intended. We wanted to show people what Cowbridge is all about, a wonderful place to  shop and socialise, a welcoming town to regular customers and new faces, ” explains Awen Evans of Havana.

Friday 9th October saw a Fashion Show Lunch at the Bear hotel, which was a sell out success. The Fashion Week ended on a high with a Black Tie Dinner Dance on the Saturday night, which included a 3 course dinner, a band and a Catwalk Fashion Show, which went down to huge rounds of applause.

The Fashion Week was run in aid of Ty Hafan, and the grand sum of £5,000 was raised, which was a magnificent achievement. Thanks go to Ty Hafan for all their help and support. And a particularly big thank you to WM Magazine, who were the event’s main sponsors. There is no way that we could have organised this size of event without them.

Plans for next year’s events are already underway, although no dates are available as yet. Watch this space!
