New Primary Care Centre for Cowbridge

Health Minister Edwina Hart today announced that she has approved a bid from the Vale of Glamorgan Local Health Board for Welsh Assembly Government funding for a new Primary Care Centre in Cowbridge, expected to open by September 2010.

Currently, general medical services in Cowbridge are provided by two GP Practices located in a Health Centre that offers no scope for the expansion of services.

The new Centre will enable the GP Practices to provide a wide range of additional services including health promotion clinics, enhanced minor surgery and nurse led chronic disease management clinics.

In addition to accommodating the two GP Practices, the new Centre will offer a range of community services and it is planned that the Community Mental Health Team, including Occupational therapy, will also be based at the Centre.
