Old Masons Yard is a development of shops, offices, restaurant and cafés occupying a prominent and pleasant position alongside the River Thaw. Penny Lane is on the east side of the river and provides a safe and attractive pedestrian route to the High Street from the main car park. Willow Walk is on the other side of the river and is connected to Penny Lane by a unique footbridge. Old Masons Yard has 11 shops with offices above, and a café and a restaurant..
Originally built in the 1970’s, further development was undertaken in 2004 to replace the old footbridge with a fantastic new one incorporating the café and providing fully ramped access for the disabled and push chairs to cross the river. Approaching the footbridge from the car park you will immediately be drawn by the busy café and Gelateria . You can sit on the bridge, or beside the river and watch the wonderful wildlife, the ducks being a particular favourite – they must be the best fed ducks in the area! River trout and their young can be clearly seen, as this part of the river is their nursery.
