Eco Sessions on a range of topics are being held at Coed Hills Rural Artspace in the next couple of weeks
All sessions are £10 each
8/9 12 – 12.45 / 1.45 – 2.30
Session includes:
- An explanation of the W.E.T. waste water treatment system installed at Coed Hills & made famous on the Archers!
- The innovative living willow compost toilet the “Tree Bog”
Bee Keeping with Charly le Marchant from www.coedhills.co.uk
9/9 – 3.30 – 4.15pm
Session includes:
- the basics of how a colony of bees functions – looking at the different roles of the bees within the hive.
- the problems facing traditional western style beekeeping and whether different methods of beekeeping around the world have anything to teach us.
11/9 – 1.45 – 5pm
Session includes:
- A presentation of Grow Sheffield – an active network of individuals and groups promoting urban organic food growing
&
- Abundance - a project to harvest the seasonal glut of local fruit in urban areas, redistribute this harvest and to use preserving techniques to conserve the harvest
Green Energy with Richard Drover who has installed many different types of renewable energy systems
12/9 – 10am – 12.45pm
Session includes:
- An overview of sustainable energy use
- A tour of the types of renewable energy in use at Coed Hills
Tour of the Edible Landscaping garden with Michele Fitzsimmons from www.ediblelandscaping.co.uk
1.45 – 3.15pm
Session includes:
- Tour of a range of annual and perennial food crops including tasting the various plants
- An explanation of growing methods, the no dig system and pest control techniques in use
