Cowbridge School Fashion Show 2008
In the autumn of 2006, Cowbridge Comprehensive School’s PTA organised a Fashion Show to raise money for school funds. With pupils and teachers as models, and ex-pupil Abi Owens choreographing the event, what started out as a school fund-raiser soon gathered momentum and became a spectacular show involving many retailers from the town and support and sponsorship from businesses throughout the County.

Cowbridge High Street is home to some of the most exciting and exclusive fashion retailers in South Wales, and these brave people willingly allowed the pupils to show off some very expensive clothes and accessories! Esther Hitchcock, Chair of the PTA and proprietor of Jon Ian, told us ‘One of the best things about the Show was the enthusiastic support we received from Cowbridge’s fashion retailers. The whole project brought the town and school communities together in an incredibly positive and exciting way. And we raised over £6500 for school funds. It was a wonderful event’.

Fast forward to 2008, and once again the PTA are organising a Fashion Extravaganza to take place on Saturday March 8 in Cowbridge Leisure Centre as the culmination of Cowbridge Fashion Week. ‘The show will be even more spectacular than before,’ said Esther, ‘We are using professional lighting, sound and projection systems and the town has joined the project with even more enthusiasm than last time’. Once again the school’s pupils and teachers are providing the models, and rehearsals have been well under way since before Christmas.

On Thursday March 6, many of Cowbridge’s fashion shops will open late and provide entertainment and refreshments to entice shoppers. There’s a ‘Taste of Fashion’ lunch in the Bear Hotel on Friday March 7 and the show itself takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday March 8. For more information about these events or to buy tickets, contact Esther Hitchcock on 07711 635221 or PTA Secretary Mat Holloway on 07740 869620.
